A while back I ordered a kit to make a zippered case by Lovely Jubbly Fabrics. I didn't find the courage to make it for quite some time, but I did love the fabrics and notions that came with it and it had been sitting on my TODO pile ever since.
One of the biggest issues of sewing bags for the normal quilter out there is the amount of fabric that is under some of those seams, specially near zippers. Making this bag broke my titanium reinforced needle, and I learnt the hard to way to go up a needle size and use denim needles for bag making. Other needles are simply not strong enough to sew through so many layers of fabric and zipper.
Once cutting/sewing in the round were figured out and I read all I could about sewing zippers to things, it all became a bit easier. Here are a few pics of the project.
