During my visit to the 2016 Spring Knitting and Stitching Show I saw a few quilts that were colourful and really pretty, almost like pieces of art. I have heard of quilts for a long time and didn't know what they actually were (my best translation to Spanish was "colcha", but that didn't really accurately describe a quilt, quilts are not really popular in Spain).
So here is the definition: quilt, according to the Wikipedia, is "a multi-layered textile, traditionally composed of three layers of fiber: a woven cloth top, a layer of batting or wadding, and a woven back, combined using the technique of quilting, the process of sewing the three layers together".
There were many quilts exposed at the show, here are the ones that really captured my imagination, from the Guild's exposition. The first one features birds and I didn't make notes of the author or titles:
The second one tells its own story. It shows quilts, books and sewing machine all ready to be packed, ready for the big move! The Guild purple is one of the quilts and the Guild badge on the box.

The third quilt shows four rows of printed purple, dancing figures on zingy, green fabric symbolise 4 decades of development of the Guild.
